1. Red Bell Peppers 
Bell peppers are rich in vitamin C which is an antioxidant that aids in the eradication of free-radicals in the body. Vitamin C is known for its infection-fighting properties, add bell peppers to your diet by adding them to stews, salads, soups, and sandwiches. 

2. Garlic 
Despite having a bad rep due to the undesirable scent that occurs when you eat anything with garlic in it, garlic is one of the most effective immune-boosting foods. Garlic contains allicin which is a powerful chemical compound that helps to fight infections. Allicin converts to other compounds that contain sulfur which is known for its immune-boosting qualities.

Add garlic to stews, soups, sauces and you can even make a healthy garlic tea by steeping two fresh garlic cloves in hot water, add honey to taste. This is an excellent remedy for cold and flu symptoms such as sore throat and cough. 

3. Ginger 
Ginger contains powerful antioxidants that fight infection and boost the body's natural immunity. Add ginger to juices, soups, stews and make a tea by using fresh ginger, lemon, hot water and honey. 

4. Kiwi 
Kiwi fruits contain plenty of immune-boosting vitamin C. There is approximately 85.1mg of vitamin C in 100g of fresh kiwi fruit. 


5. Almonds 
Almonds contain iron and protein, as well as selenium which are all essential for a healthy immune system. Make almond milk by  blending a handful of almonds with water, sweeten using dates or agave nectar. Strain the milk out using a nut milk bag or a clean muslin cloth. 


6. Spinach 
Spinach consists of vitamin C, vitamin A, iron, magnesium and various other beneficial vitamins and minerals. Add spinach to smoothies, salads, stews and soups. You can even make delicious spinach chips by coating freshly washed baby spinach leaves with a little olive oil and sea salt. Place the leaves in a dehydrator until dry and crisp or use an oven on a low heat or an air fryer on the chips setting for five to seven minutes. 

7. Brazil Nuts 
Brazil nuts contain plenty of selenium, which is an immune boosting mineral. There is  68–91 mcg of selenium is one brazil nut. The recommended daily amount for adults is 55mcg. Therefore, 3/4 of a large Brazil nut is enough for one day. 

8. Broccoli 
Broccoli contains vitamin C, vitamin A, magnesium and iron. If you don't like broccoli, blend it into a soup with fresh almond milk, onions, garlic, salt, pepper and lemon zest. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes for a delicious and healthy soup. 

9. Turmeric 
Turmeric is the bright yellow/orange cousin of ginger. It contains a potent chemical compound called curcumin which is the compound that gives turmeric its bright pigment. Turmeric is often used in South Asian cooking as a coloring and/or spice for curries, soups, and stews. Curcumin is known as an antioxidant that fights free radicals in the body and strengthens the immune system. 

10. Sunflower Seeds
Sunflower seeds contain amino acids and good fats as well as vitamin E and selenium. Selenium is vital for healthy hair and nails but it is also known for its immune-boosting powers as it fights auto-immune diseases such as alopecia. 

Sunflower seeds can be consumed as a tasty, healthy snack. You can also make sunflower seed butter but processing the seeds into a paste.
